As a new client of our practice, you can expect our full attention to your pets’ needs.  Our service will be provided with courtesy and respect.  Whether visiting us for a semi annual or annual medical examination, a second opinion on something, or due to accident or illness you can be assured that you and your pet are welcome at Muskoka Animal Hospital. Our doctors see patients by appointment only, so please call ahead to schedule a time to visit that best suits your schedule. Walk in appointments can only be accommodated if they are emergencies. Other walk in clients will be encouraged to schedule an appointment or admit their pet to the hospital for observation and an examination when the doctor becomes available.

We welcome new client transfers from other animal hospitals. In order to become an active client at our hospital you must schedule a visit with our doctor upon transfer of your files. This visit establishes a Veterinary Client Patient Relationship and allows you to discuss previous healthcare with us as well as establish a plan for your pet’s future healthcare needs.

When you arrive for your appointment, both you and your pet will be greeted warmly by our Client Services Representative , who will review your contact information and details. You may want to pause for a great cup of tea or coffee or perhaps a hot chocolate or cider while getting settled!  After some TLC for your pet  and a weigh in, you will be invited into an examination room as soon as we have one available. Our goal is to see all of our clients and patients on time, and although we have contingencies for emergencies, there will be times where the unexpected will create delays. We will ensure these are minimized as much as possible but do appreciate your understanding.

You may see a Registered Veterinary Technician next who will take a history, and gather some data for the doctor.  A veterinarian will see you next, performing a comprehensive head to tail examination of your pet and answering your questions and concerns. Any  further diagnostics or treatment plans will be discussed with you and a Care Plan provided.  You will normally see the RVT again to wrap things up, and she will provide you with further educational information and answer routine wellness and care questions for you. The veterinarian will prepare a report card for you that reviews the appointment and documents any information you might need in future.

We are excited to meet you and your furry family members!
